The metaphor

of the Circle

February 17, 2020

Dear all,

It's not a secret that we are in a crucial historical time.

All around the globe people are striking and asking for concrete actions to limit anthropogenic climate change and restore a healthy living planet. Playfight is also part of this movement!

This Lineage of Playfight focuses on connection; with oneself, other human beings and the Planet too.

Participants in our circles learn to use their emotional intelligence to feel the difference between connection and disconnection. And to recognize that connection is more important than winning the game they are playing.

They also learn to be centered and connected with themselves even while being in a difficult moment, avoiding entering survival dynamics and bringing this ability into their daily lives.

Our lineage of Playfight is a circle practice.

This means that the Playfighters meet in the middle of the circle made by the other participants. The Circle witness and form the boundary of a safe zone where the expression and exploration of the Playfighters takes place.

After the Encounter the Circle offers the Playfighters 3-4 pieces of feedback, meaning personal sharings about what moved them while observing. Hearing these voices the Playfighters can then recognize the impact they had on the environment they played in: the wider Circle.

Metaphorically the Circle can be seen as our Planet.

The Planet yes, the safe and beautiful playground where we, human beings, play our lives. Unfortunately, the way we have been playing during the last centuries has not been focused on connection but rather on competing with each other in order to win.

And just like the Circle, the Planet has also been giving us feedback about our behavior - and it's now on us to hear it and make a change. In fact I believe that if each human being practiced Playfight and embodied its values, this would benefit also the way we treat our Planet.

We as Playfight want to do our part in listening and changing.

That's why we aim to have the smallest environmental footprint possible.

To begin with, we commit to taking these four important actions for each and every major Playfight event:

And that’s just the beginning. We intend to take more actions both on the level of reducing our impact and of creating awareness about this important topic!

If you are curious to experience the depth of the practice, join one of Playfight’s next main events and support us to do even better!

I’m looking forward to meet you in person and to playfight together for our planet!

Warmly,

Matteo Tangi
